Sudlersville Middle School, which is home to 600 students, is the result of a Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates master plan and feasibility study which was conducted due to increasing enrollment.  From these efforts, a new LEED Gold Certified middle school was built which meets the 21st century educational program. The design created educational pods which use flexible furniture and integrated technology to create learning spaces for small and large groups. Sustainable design was a cornerstone of the project from the start of design with a goal of minimizing life cycle costs for the building lifespan. Energy Efficiency was developed throughout the project with an integrated design process between the owner, architects, engineers and contractors. Energy modeling was used to evaluate multiple wall and roof designs for both cost and overall impact on the building.
