SCHOOL SECURITY – THREAT AND VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENTS
We were very pleased to be presenters at this year’s conference. Our work with Pennsylvania’s Schools has brought us more than award-winning buildings; it’s brought to us the great relationships with our clients and a pride in the student’s of today.
Presenters Jeffrey Straub AIA, REFP, LEED AP BD+C, studio director and Randy Davis, principal/ director of Marketing spoke on the very significant topic of security and vulnerability assessments – Integral to school planning and administration.
Recent national school tragedies have caused everyone to re-evaluate and rethink current facilities safety procedures and vulnerability. Budget constraints and limited resources continue to strain one’s ability to implement justifiable and/or reasonable security measures. Appropriate facility planning and evaluation begins with identifying the level of threat protection deemed necessary and developing an understanding of what the corresponding procedures need to occur simultaneously. This session examined the process of conducting a threat and vulnerability assessment as an integral part of responsible school planning and management.
