The New Blue Mountain Elementary School project is designed to replace the existing Blue Mountain Elementary School West. The new building addresses the physical plant deficiencies found in the existing Elementary West building, which includes structurally compromised wall construction, lack of ADA accessibility, poor energy efficiency, technology and equipment, and building life safety issues. This project also addresses the need for improved safety and security of students and staff, classroom and programmatic deficiencies and the necessity for educational environment and program improvements to serve the programs of their elementary curriculum.

The new Elementary West building is designed to house the combined K-5 student population from the original West Elementary, as well as the Cressona Elementary building. The new building includes three 2-story classroom wings and three open/flexible Collaborative Learning Areas. Educational core support spaces include a media center, instrumental and vocal music, as well as art and technology rooms. The facility also contains a full sized gymnasium with stage and a Cafeteria and full-service Kitchen. Two outdoor learning areas are also located within the 2-story classroom wing courtyards for additional educational opportunities.
