Mardela Middle & High School is Getting Upgrades

“The expansion design will separate the middle and high school, add an auxiliary gym, upgrade the HVAC system, change locations for the front office and cafeteria, and more,” commented Principal Liza Hastings.

The renovation also includes 21st Century flexible collaboration spaces to align with today’s modern educational program; a simplified corridor system and wider circulation paths; and a new main entrance, which will help create a new identity for the school.

Hastings also shared that the last time the school saw upgrades was when she graduated 30 years ago.

“I envision it will bring more people in and again we want people to want to stay here and be a part of this amazing school.” She added, “they [Wicomico County Board of Education] understand that it’s worth it, that our students are worth it, and that this community is worth it.” Construction is set to start summer 2022.
