Amherst County Public Schools sought to create a new 1,400-seat auditorium for theater productions, band concerts, student assemblies, and community functions. The auditorium addition included adjacent band, choral, and black box classrooms, a student hall of fame, new toilet rooms, concessions, and storage. The entrance commons also served as a new dining hall for 400 students and functioned as a large group collaboration space.
The existing kitchen and dining room were converted into a new kitchen with a food court and four world language classrooms. The existing auditorium was transformed into three classrooms and a new Nursing CTE lab and classroom. Additional CTE renovations included the culinary lab/classroom, a new cosmetology lab/classroom, expansion of the welding lab/classroom, and the creation of a new horticulture and small animal care lab/classroom.
